Africa Day

Step Ahead’s staff and learners come from various rich backgrounds and cultures and we thrive in the diversity. As an institution that enjoys a close relationship with all its stakeholders, we take advantage of the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the African cultures represented by our stakeholders every year in our Africa Day Celebrations. Learners and staff dressed up in traditional attire share and entertain the school with poetry, speech’s and short skits as a way of taking pride in our beautiful and diverse continent.

As a community that has experienced xenophobic tensions in the recent history, we see it important to broaden our learner’s view of the continent and to take pride in the many rich cultures and in what each language, traditional food and customs of this land.

The success in the celebrations are seen in how the learners interact with different languages and people from other countries, no longer negative but with interest and tolerance. This is one of the several ways we try grow global citizens.
